Investment Thesis — The "AHA Moment"

We initiate coverage on Credo Technology Holding Inc. (NASDAQ: CRDO), a provider of high-speed, low-power data connectivity solutions, with a BUY rating and a 12-month price target of $266, implying 41% upside. As AI infrastructure scales, efficient data movement — not compute — is becoming the binding constraint, and Credo sits directly at that bottleneck. The thesis rests on three pillars:

  • Leadership in copper connectivity: Credo's Active Electrical Cables (AECs) are the preferred short-reach interconnect solution as GPU density rises, with a 3–6x increase in interconnect requirements per rack driving high-volume, recurring demand.
  • Expansion into optical connectivity: The acquisition of DustPhotonics brings Silicon Photonics technology in-house, unlocking a $10B+ optical TAM and positioning Credo for 800G, 1.6T, and 3.2T architectures.
  • Operating leverage & margin expansion: Non-GAAP operating margins are projected to expand from -18.8% in FY24 to ~38% by FY27, as Credo's IP-driven, fabless model allows revenue growth to significantly outpace opex growth.

Key Risks

Technology Shift to Co-Packaged Optics

Faster-than-expected CPO adoption could compress the lifecycle of current copper-based connectivity architectures.

Geopolitical & Supply Chain Dependence

Heavy reliance on TSMC and Taiwan-based manufacturing exposes Credo to geopolitical and supply chain disruption risk.

Customer Concentration

Revenue is concentrated among a small number of hyperscalers (Amazon ~42%, Microsoft ~24%, Oracle ~11%, Meta ~5%).

Optical Scaling & Integration Execution

Scaling optical production and integrating DustPhotonics introduces manufacturing and go-to-market execution risk.
